Biography

United States

Born in Pasadena, Ca, in 1977, Henry Lewis moved to San Francisco in late 2000 to pursue a career in tattooing, illustration, and painting. Henry is a featured artist at the world renowned tattoo studio, Everlasting Tattoo. Working as a tattooer for the past 8 years, Henry’s acclaim as a painter and illustrator has grown as well in that time. Since relocating to San Francisco Henry has shown his work at 111 Minna Gallery, 5024SF, Hotel Biron, White Walls, The Shooting Gallery and a group show during the Sundance Film Festival, in 2006. Henry has worked and collaborated on projects with Receiver Gallery, Juice Design, K2 Snowboards, Ashbury Images, and the band, The Liars.

Henry draws on a broad range of influences, most notably other tattooers and his contemporaries, such as Don Hardy, Mike Davis, and Jason Schroeder. This doesn’t mean that he eschews a more formal influence. Henry also notes the influence of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Peter Paul Reubens, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini in his work.
