News From Outer Space
Kristin Farr, fan and wonderful journalist over at KQED, was hanging out with Sarah on the Friday before her show trying on costumes and whatnot. She just made a little video about all of that. Thanks Kristin!
We had giant woolen barrels of fun over the weekend with Sarah’s show. Here are some photos:
And the show will be up and running through the summer so if you didn’t make it to the opening, come by and check it out!
Just what it sounds like. Come kick it with Intern Steven and get a free shitty kitty, if not several, if not draw/write your own, if not have beer.

And Shotwell’s is on 20th and Shotwell in the Mission. Map here.
Sarah’s been in the gallery all weekend and it is all coming together very nicely. You can check out our running slideshow of her setup on Flickr here .
So far, though, this one is my favorite:
Well, we’re just glad so many different people keep coming in and enjoying Porous Walker’s show up right now. Most recent example– the ice cream people blog.
Hey, maybe you couldn’t swing by last Saturday while we were gluing with Porous Walker. It was a ton of fun and everyone reverted to a happy childlike stat playing with toys and eating cookie.
Check out all those toys! Check out all the fun on our Flickr set here .
Had a great time at the opening of Receiver’s latest show “Me vs Me”? Want more Porous Walker/Jimmy Dimarcellis but just don’t know how?
Come by Receiver this Saturday at 2pm and glue toys together with Jimmy. He’ll give a brief talk about all the work in this show and then lead everyone in some good old fashioned toy-gluing.
Once we all have sufficient toy assemblages, we’ll go around back to Orange Alley and install these little art show supplements about, extending the show beyond the gallery right into the community.
Please come at 2pm with your own glue guns or with whatever be your prefered plastic toy gluing medium. Plain old Elmer’s probably won’t get the job done. Bubble gum just works in the movies. We have a few glue guns but, by and large, this will be a BYOGG event. Thank you. Jimmy also has quite a few extra toys, but please if you can bring your own, do so.
See you on Saturday! And, as usual, treats will be provided by our neighbor Anthony’s Cookies.
Please let us know if you can make it! And if we don’t see you there, be sure to come to our next show featuring technicolor costumes, paintings, installations and fabric by San Francisco artist Sarah Applebaum opening May 23rd.
Maybe that says it all. Receiver intern, etc., Steven Weinberg and his partner Casey Scieszka are showing off their wares this weekend. Come by their studio at the 3rd floor of Art Explosion at 744 Alabama (between 19th and 20th in the Mission) on Friday night for the opening party, or during either days this coming weekend.
Mention this and maybe you’ll get a free zine.
